My name is Alan Anderson. I’ve been involved in physique and strength sports since the mid 1980’s. I’ve competed in the NPC (National Physique Committee) and the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) in bodybuilding. The highlight of my competitive career was winning the AAU Mr. Texas. Competing in various contests gave me the opportunity to learn about sports nutrition and high-level conditioning.
I soon discovered that I had a love for helping others with training and nutrition, to enable them to compete at the highest level of the sport. Through gym ownership, I was also exposed and educated as well to the sport of powerlifting. This gave me the opportunity to promote several local events and judge many high-level contests.
This page represents a small portion of the outstanding competitors and athletes that I’ve had the honor and privilege of working with, training with and learning from over the years. It has been a great experience to contribute to their success.
I’m starting with Ken Lain, because that’s where it all started for me. I didn’t train Ken, I learned from him. Ken introduced me to competitive bodybuilding. He helped me to win my weight class in my first contest. Later on, I went to work for Ken in his Powershack Gym. Needless to say, that over the next 5 years I learned more about strength training and nutrition than any of my personal train
Ken started out as a competitive bodybuilder and changed course into powerlifting. Ken soon discovered that he had the ability to start breaking world records in the bench press. His first world record was in the 275lb weight class with a 644lb bench. He then went on to bench 655lbs, and then 661lbs. He then went up to the super heavy weight class and set 4 more records, breaking Ted Arcidi’s reco
Next, he dropped back down to 242lb weight class and benched 644lbs. then broke it again with 655lbs., looking more like a bodybuilder. From there he went back up to 275 and benched 670, and 700. With a total of 11 World records 18 national and state records Ken did something that to my knowledge hasn’t been done to this day, by holding world records in the 242,275, and super heavy weight all si
Jason Goetz- Jason won the A.A.U. Mr. Teen Texas in 1993. Jason was my training partner when he won this contest. Jason’s drive and commitment to his training was relentless as he was always willing to push to the point of throwing up. Needless to say, we really pushed each other hard. Jason came into his contest in top condition easily winning over a big field of competitors.
Karen Choat is not only a top level competitor, but also a big fan of the sport, and her fellow competitors. Karen competed as a light heavyweight with a physique that was packed with dense ripped muscle. Karen’s legs and calves were the envy of her fellow competitors. Karen always showed up in top condition and was always a top finisher at the U.S.A. and N.P.C. Nationals from 2006-2013.
Karen's best was a 1st place win at the 2008 and 2012 master’s Nationals. 2006 NPC USA 5th, 2006 NPC Nationals 8th, 2007 NPC USA 3rd, 2007 NPC Nationals 3rd, 2008 NPC Master’s Nationals 1st, 2008 NPC USA 3rd, 2008 NPC Nationals 5th, 2010 NPC Master’s Nationals 2nd, 2011 NPC Master’s Nationals 4th(heavyweight), 2012 NPC Master’s Nationals 1st, 2012 NPC Nationals 2nd, 2013 Master’s Nationals 5th.
Shon Perez just loved to train, and he was super strong (actually he still is). He could’ve excelled in powerlifting as well as bodybuilding. Shon didn’t waste any time competing in smaller contests, with a win at the Lone Star Classic and the Europa Super Show that qualified him as a national level competitor.
Melinda Williamson was one of the hardest working competitors that I’ve ever trained. Daily she drove into town to work a full day, then showed up at the gym for the most brutal training sessions I could come up with. Melinda competed as a lightweight, but she packed her small frame with plenty of dense muscle mass.
Melinda always showed up in top condition, and was always a top place finisher at the N.P.C. USA and the N.P.C. Nationals. 2004 NPC Nationals 9th, 2006 NPC USA 2nd, 2007 NPC USA 4th, 2009 NPC USA 5th.
Jennifer Sedia was a bodybuilding star waiting to happen. Once her diet and training got on point, she rose to the top fast. Jennifer carried a lot of shapely and symmetrical muscle on her frame. Jennifer always presented a very conditioned and polished award winning package on stage. I was fortunate enough to see her win the 2007 N.P.C. USA Championships where she earned her pro status as an I
Jennifer had a very successful career as a pro competing in the Ms. Olympia and placing in the top 10 women bodybuilders in the world. 2006 NPC Nationals 4th, 2006 NPC USA 2nd, 2007 NPC USA 1stand Overall (qualified for pro status), 2008 IFBB Europa Supershow 1st, 2008 IFBB Olympia 10th, 2009 IFBB Atlantic City Pro 8th, 2009 IFBB New York Pro 9th, 2011 IFBB Battle of Champions 8th, 2014 IFBB Oly
Johnny Fisher. I didn’t train Johnny, but as a member of GYM 28, I felt like his accomplishments were well worth featuring here. Johnny competed in Lee Labrada’s Muscle Beach Extravaganza in 1990 and placed a very respectable 2nd place in a very competitive field of athletes.
What’s also impressive about Johnny is that even though this was 33 years ago he still to this day looks like he could ste
Sonia Rodriguez. Sonia had been training for quite some time when she decided to test the competition waters in 2016. We devised a plan to get her in her best shape for the masters figure division of the 2016 Johnnie Jackson Classic. Needless to say she placed a very respectable 2nd in the Masters Figure Class.
Josh Younts is the latest addition to our Champions Page. Josh started training at a very young age so he was ahead of the game when he finally decided to step on stage. Josh is an absolute beast in the weight room.
As competition goes first time competitors usually enter the novice division. Since Josh has so much potential I convinced him to skip the novice division and go straight to open compe
